Asya gulua
Instructor of Piano and Music Theory
Asya’s love for teaching began during her high school years at Interlochen Arts Academy, where spontaneous informal performances, which included giving and receiving feedback, were a regular pastime among friends. The memory of the enthusiastic exchange of musical ideas and genuine care towards each other’s pianistic struggles inspires Asya’s teaching to this day.
Asya began studying piano in her native Moscow, Russia. She holds degrees from The Juilliard School (BM), Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music (MM), and University of Oregon (DMA). She has had the privilege of studying with Jerome Lowenthal, Edward Auer, and Alexandre Dossin. Asya made her New York City debut as a chamber musician at Alice Tully Hall in 2004 and has maintained an active performing career since then. She appears regularly in Davies Symphony Hall as a guest artist of the San Francisco Symphony’s chamber music series. Locally, Asya is a member of Trio Picea and Trio PNW.
Aside from performing regularly, Asya teaches piano at Corban University and has a growing private studio. She is a member of the Willamette Valley Federated Music Club and the Oregon Music Teachers Association.
